For the longest time, I was intimidated by leather cutting. It stinks, I didn’t know what kind to buy, and it seemed so expensive. 

But good news: once you get past the smell, leather is actually super easy to work with. It cuts cleanly with both CO2 and diode machines, engraves beautifully, and gives projects that high-end, handcrafted feel we all love. And honestly I don’t think it smells any worse than acrylic does. If you can stand that, you’ll be just fine with leather.

And guess what? It’s about the same price as the colorful acrylic sheets you probably already buy. Yes leather projects may require a few extra steps, but it’s right on par with acrylic when it comes to material cost and product elevation.

Plus, it’s still a bit of a hidden gem in the laser world. Not a ton of laser makers are working with real leather right now, especially in the modern laser product space. That means adding leather to your lineup can instantly help your shop stand out with textures, tones, and products your customers haven’t seen as often.
